Advisory Board

We were fortunate to have had a wildly distinguished Advisory Board during the early part of the Grant. They were instrumental in giving guidance and helping to define the conceptual framework and context for DVL.

Although the Advisory Board has disbanded as of mid-2007, their contriibutions are valued and many of their suggestions have been incorporated into the Grant deliverables. Below is a brief list of the former Advisory Board members.

John Seely Brown, an internationally known thought leader, former head of Xerox PARC and author.

Roger Mandle, President of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and former Deputy Director of the National Gallery of Art.

Scott Anderson, winner of an Oscar (for Babe) and a leading figure in the special effects world (and also a double CS/Art-Semiotics major from Brown).

Jim Thomas, Director of the Department of Homeland Security’s National Visualization and Analytics Center and a Laboratory Fellow at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

Julie Larson - Green, Group Program Manager for the Office 12 User Experience at Microsoft.

David Salesin, Principal Scientist at Adobe Systems, and a Professor in Computer Science at the University of Washington.

The DVL Project Advisory Board met twice in 2006.

  • They held a virtual "get acquainted" meeting via teleconference in January 2006.
